Depressão, ansiedade e estresse: panorama da saúde mental em estudantes universitários

Resumo

A etapa universitária implica demandas acadêmicas e psicossociais que podem afetar o equilíbrio emocional dos estudantes e sua continuidade acadêmica. Nesse contexto, a Depressão, a Ansiedade e o Estresse Psicológico são problemas frequentes que requerem monitoramento institucional. O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a depressão, a ansiedade e o estresse em uma amostra de estudantes universitários peruanos e identificar sua associação com sexo, idade e condição laboral. Foi realizada uma pesquisa quantitativa, não experimental e transversal com 381 estudantes de ambos os sexos. Para avaliar as variáveis, aplicou-se a Escala DASS-21, com propriedades psicométricas adequadas. As associações foram analisadas por meio do teste do Qui-Quadrado e do coeficiente V de Cramer, assim como as correlações entre as três variáveis utilizando o coeficiente rho de Spearman. Mais da metade dos estudantes não apresentou sintomas, principalmente em ansiedade (55,1%), seguida de estresse (43,3%) e depressão (40,7%). Predominaram os níveis leves e moderados, enquanto os casos graves foram pouco frequentes. Foram encontradas associações significativas entre depressão com sexo e idade, ansiedade com idade e estresse com sexo e idade (p<0,05). Além disso, as três variáveis apresentaram correlações positivas e fortes entre si (p<0,01). Conclui-se que a depressão, a ansiedade e o estresse são frequentes entre estudantes universitários, predominantemente em níveis leves e moderados, embora persistam casos graves. Essas condições associam-se ao sexo e à idade e relacionam-se entre si, ressaltando a necessidade de ações preventivas no contexto universitário.
