Policy for Adherence to Open Science and the Promotion of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA)
The journal is committed to improving its editorial practices and promoting the principles of Open Science, as well as diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its operations. To this end, we have established the following guidelines:
- Preprint Policy: We recognize the importance of preprints in accelerating the dissemination of scientific knowledge and promoting transparency in the research process. Starting from 2024, we encourage authors to submit their manuscripts to preprint servers before or during the submission process to the journal. Manuscripts already available as preprints will not be disqualified for publication in our journal. We align with Open Science practices and recommend the use of recognized open-access preprint servers, such as arXiv, bioRxiv, or SciELO Preprints.
- Open Science and Transparency: The journal promotes the adoption of good Open Science practices, such as sharing data, code, and research materials whenever possible. We encourage authors to make the raw data used in their research available in open repositories, ensuring access for other researchers and strengthening scientific reproducibility. To facilitate this practice, we provide guidance on selecting appropriate repositories and licensing practices.
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA):
- The journal is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible editorial environment for all parties involved, including authors, reviewers, and readers. We are developing concrete initiatives to ensure that gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, geographical origin, and physical and mental abilities are respected and promoted in our selection and review processes.
- Additionally, we will seek to improve the accessibility of our published articles and materials, ensuring that all readers, regardless of their needs, can access and understand the content.
- We have established clear goals to increase diversity among reviewers, authors, and editorial board members, with ongoing monitoring actions to assess progress in these areas.
- Commitment to Ethics and Best Practices: We remain committed to the highest standards of ethics in research and scientific communication, ensuring that all submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous and impartial evaluation. We maintain adherence to principles established by international ethics bodies and ensure that our procedures are transparent and unbiased.
We reaffirm our commitment to scientific excellence and to building a fair, inclusive, and open editorial environment for all researchers. We will continue to monitor and adjust these practices in line with the advancements in Open Science and the best practices in diversity and inclusion
