Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA)

O Mundo da Saúde is committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) at all stages of the editorial process and in its scientific publishing practices. We recognize that science is enriched by multiple perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences, and we strive to create an environment that values and celebrates diversity while ensuring equitable access and participation for researchers and readers.

   1. Diversity

We value and encourage the participation of authors, reviewers, and editorial board members from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, nationality, religion, and socioeconomic conditions. We make a concerted effort to ensure that representation is reflected in the published content and in the composition of our editorial team.

   2. Equity

We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all researchers, regardless of their background or geographical location. Our peer review processes are double-blind, ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated solely based on their scientific quality and relevance.

   3. Inclusion

We foster the inclusion of perspectives from underrepresented communities in science by encouraging studies that address local, regional, and global issues through an interdisciplinary and culturally sensitive lens. O Mundo da Saúde is dedicated to publishing research that represents the diversity of topics, approaches, and cultural contexts within the health sciences.

   4. Accessibility

We work to ensure that our content is widely accessible to diverse audiences. Our journal supports the Open Access movement and encourages the dissemination of knowledge through preprint repositories, allowing the general public and academic communities unrestricted access to scientific findings. Additionally, we adopt editorial practices that accommodate the needs of readers and authors with disabilities, such as the use of accessible formats and clear language.

   5. Actions and Commitments

• We encourage the submission of manuscripts that explore DEIA-related issues in health and science in general.
• We provide guidance and support to authors from developing countries and underrepresented regions to facilitate their participation in the global scientific landscape.
• We continuously seek to reduce financial, linguistic, and technological barriers that may limit access to or publication in the journal.
• We regularly review our policies and practices to ensure they effectively promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

   6. Feedback

We welcome suggestions and constructive feedback from the scientific community to improve our policies and ensure that our editorial practices reflect our ongoing commitment to DEIA.

With this policy, we reaffirm our purpose of fostering an editorial environment that contributes to a more inclusive, representative, and accessible science, aligned with the ethical and social principles of the global health community.
