Abstract

The question of cultural diversity has been a frequent topic of discussion in this historical moment of acceleration of the
process of globalization and paradigmatic transition. Making efforts for surpassing the idea of a hegemonic culture that be the only
reference or destroys all other, the idea of interculturality is an increasing topic in discussions that are opposed to the current model of
globalization and capital accumulation. The concept of diversity is central in these discussions and approaching it demands a constant
and discerning analysis. This text aims to contribute to these reflections from a study on the concept of diversity based on several different
authors, from an understanding of the importance of Education in the construction of a culture of diversity and relating cultural
diversity to biodiversity and sustainability.
