This article aims to show the relevance of the “Placid Banks” Project, an open forum or debate network for all - Public
Administrations, Universities, NGOs, entrepreneurs, students and professionals – directed to rescue the ecological and cultural values
invoked by the image of a river. It congregates all who agree with a symbolic proposal of creation of a great linear urban park around
Ipiranga Stream, establishing a connection between its wellspring, in the perimeter of the “Ipiranga Wellsprings State Park”, and its
estuary, in the Tamanduateí River, encompassing in this route the Independence Park and Ipiranga Quarter’s more important historical
and cultural sceneries.
