Calidad de vida en el trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas en la pandemia de COVID-19: serie de casos

El trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas es un tratamiento complejo con el objetivo de curar enfermedades malignas y benignas, que afecta directamente la calidad de vida de pacientes y cuidadores. Estudios previos a la pandemia han presentado aspectos de la carga del cuidador y la calidad de vida de ambos, y esta investigación contribuye a este vacío en el tema durante la pandemia. El objetivo fue evaluar y correlacionar la calidad de vida de los receptores de trasplantes de células madre hematopoyéticas con la calidad de vida y la carga de los cuidadores durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Se realizó una serie de casos con 16 días en un hospital público de Brasil, referente en América Latina. La calidad de vida de los pacientes trasplantados se evaluó mediante el Functional Assessment Cancer Therapy-Bone Marrow Transplantation, mientras que la calidad de vida de los cuidadores se evaluó mediante el Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Health Survey, y la carga se evaluó mediante el Zarit Burden Interview. Hubo una menor percepción del bienestar funcional de los pacientes trasplantados y un peor estado general de salud de los cuidadores; la salud mental del cuidador interfirió en distintos dominios de la calidad de vida; hubo una correlación negativa entre la calidad de vida y la carga del cuidador. La pandemia ha tenido un impacto en la calidad de vida de las díadas; es necesario un apoyo adicional tanto para el paciente como para el cuidador.
