The current model of development based mainly on the conversion of natural areas in agricultural areas is considered
the main way human activities produce environmental impacts and it constitutes a constant threat to biodiversity. Its cause may be
associated to the level of understanding and perception society has of relationships between environmental problems and regional
production activities. Thus, the investigation of environmental perception constitutes an essential tool for research projects regarding
human-environment relationships and environmental management. The objective of this work was to investigate the perception of
environmental impacts by a group of teachers of the Primary Level in towns near the Ecological Station of Jataí (Luiz Antônio, Rincão,
Santa Rita do Passa Quatro e São Simão, SP). Environmental perception of these teachers had an explict content of lived experiences
regarding the environmental impacts sometimes associated to the local standards of soil use. So, the results of this investigation made
possible to identify the values of the region in the technical and human context, essential to establish the specific objectives of an
effective Program of Environmental Education aiming a unity of conservation.
