This study aims to show the cultural aspects of professional performance evaluation in the perspective of the nursing team
of the University of São Paulo’s University Hospital. It integrates the process of reconstruction of the performance evaluation that
is developed by the Nursing Department management in terms of a research-action. Data were by means of 16 report- syntheses of
forums carried through with nursing professionals and analyzed with Bardin’s of content analysis method. The positive and negative
aspects of the process of performance evaluation, as reported by forums participants represented the very values of the organizational
and nursing culture from which they came.
