Abstract

The idea of health as “well being”, associated to the hyperconsumption attitude we live in, brings questions to be faced by
medicine and universal health assistance systems such as SUS. This article contributes for these current discussions of Bioethics from one
of the concerns that originated it: the culture of “always more and ever better”. Is “always more” really “better” in medicine and health?
This is the question to be answered by Bioethics as an ethics of responsibility, based on citizenship and social justice.
