Population aging increase non transmissible diseases rates, amongst them dementias as is the case of Alzheimer Disease, which is
degenerative and involves intense neuronal loss. With the progression of the disease the patient needs the support of a carer, which in most
cases is a family member. The importance of Support Groups stands out to support for individuals inserted in the dynamics of caring for an
Alzheimer patient by means of information-giving, psychological support, among others. Considering information presented, the objective
of the present study was to sketch the profile of user of the service of telephonic support of ABRAz - Brazilian Association of Alzheimer, and
to consider strategies to answer to the demands these users present, as registered in the database of ABRAz. The study was carried through
with a survey of information registered by the service of telephonic support of ABRAz from May 2007 to April 2008, in a total of 2208 cases
registered. The profile of users of the service of telephonic support of ABRAz is: most of them are women, daughters of people probably
diagnosed as having Alzheimer disease, living in Brazil’s Southeastern region and which come to know the service of telephonic assistance
by means of television.
